Themes and Non-Humans

I just looked through a bunch of 3d spaces and rejected the lot. There are a lot of web based games out there that have “clans” or “organizations” that would love to have an In Character 3d space. I was looking for a place that I could share a star wars based theme. The first problem I find is no Non-human avatars. The second problem is that the clothing is not available and to make it yourself is a PITA. The avatar and clothing are a key component of a 3D environment and it seems to be widely neglected. |

We’ll be working on the avatar customization side of this, Darkseid! Thanks for the feedback about non-human and alternative avatars. We’ve heard a lot of suggestions on that front. Do you have any specific thoughts on the kinds of “degrees of freedom” needed to attract these sorts of uses? |

I don’t know. But more options are better. Can you acheive an avatar creation that handles odd body type creatures like a giant slug. Do you create a whole new avatar mesh or do you solve it with a costume on a human avatar? With clothing I notice that most of the 3d worlds that try to attract unpaid 3d artists and have them do the clothing never get populated with clothing for these niche types or very much at all. In addition to the 3d artist method make something simple available like a selection of body components (differently shaped gloves or head masks) that the user can wrap a picture or texture around. This would be something that an average user could do following a tutorial for GIMP or photoshop. You give them a template for each body wrap and they draw it. Upload. Attach to body wrap component. |
